Donate A Kneeler

It was back in 2004 that the St. Margaret’s (Ladies) Guild took up the challenge of replacing all the kneelers (hassocks) in our church. Originally the project was co-ordinated by Mrs Doreen Kenyon and Mrs Dawn Carter, with advice and assistance from Mrs Sheila Ward.
Since then the whole church has received new kneelers and looks resplendent. A whole host of people have paid for the kneelers, some have also made them but there has been a great band of women and men creating and making up the designs. Each kneeler has the name of the donor and maker on the back, unless people have asked to remain anonymous. The final part of the project was to provide new kneelers at the altar rail.
Mrs Mill Hirst took up the work of overseeing the vast amount of this work. We offer our heartfelt thanks to her for all that she has done. Mil has also compiled a book listing all the kneelers and their location. A further booklet is being produced to tell the story behind the various choices and designs used, and will offer a chance to record details of any special events or people who are commemorated in this way.
If you would still like to donate a kneeler in memory of a loved one or to commemorate a special event such as a marriage, anniversary or baptism - please contact the Parish Office.
Kneelers cost £44.
Below is a small selection of the range of knellers donated to the church.
